The Fife coast is blessed with some stunning beaches, from sheltered sandy coves with rock pools to sweeping golden sands. Several are within easy reach of the Honeypot — perfect for a morning walk, a family day out, or simply sitting and watching the waves.
Roome Bay Beach, Crail
10 minutes' walk from the Honeypot
Roome Bay Beach is a south-facing sandy beach with rock pools at the water's edge. The combination of cove, sand and rock pools makes for a great day out exploring, walking and sunbathing. At one end is a disused swimming pool now a haven for wildlife, and there's a grassy area with a children's playground. The coastline is part of the Firth of Forth Ramsar site, protecting wetland habitats and species. Access off Roome Bay Crescent.
Crail Harbour Beach
5 minutes' walk
The tiny pebble and sand beach beside Crail's famous harbour. A beautiful spot for a quick dip or to watch the fishing boats come and go. Spectacular at sunset.
West Sands, St Andrews
10 miles
Made famous by the opening scene of Chariots of Fire, West Sands is a spectacular two-mile stretch of golden sand. Perfect for long walks, kite flying, and sand castle building. One of the best beaches in Scotland.
Elie Beach
10 miles
Popular for its beautiful sandy beach with a wonderful beach-village atmosphere in summer. The Ship Inn is famous for its cricket matches played on the beach at low tide. The Ruby Bay section is excellent for rock pooling.
Kingsbarns Beach
4 miles
A quiet, unspoilt sandy beach between Crail and St Andrews. Perfect for a peaceful walk with views out to the Isle of May. Often deserted even in summer — a real hidden gem.
East Sands, St Andrews
10 miles
A sheltered beach beneath the ruins of St Andrews Cathedral. Popular with families and the starting point for the Fife Coastal Path heading south towards Crail.
